Doomsdayers?

Hello everyone! Well there is a television show on cable that shows or depicts people that are called "Doomsdayers". Wherein basically these people are preparing for "e.l.e's", Extinction Level Events where all mankind is faced with it's demise. This is where I'd like to add that while the television program is entertaining it is not entirely a good reflection upon rural America or small town people in general. If you happen to have extra batteries, flashlights, keroseen lamps, canned food, etc., that you are indeed a "doomsdayer". It is considered good general practice to keep such items and food staples in cases of extreme weather and/or power outages. With that being said one cannot deny that within pop culture that there is a certain sense of uneasiness. With motion pictures such as "I Am Legend", "Dawn of the Dead", "The Road", "The Book of Eli", and television series such as "The Walking Dead", which has garnered a very large audience that the world is indeed on edge. Weather it be the economy, war in the middle-east, trouble on the Korean pennisula. There are indeed many things that give so many of the American public cause for fear. History has taught us that weather it be illness, catastrphic weather changes, population overload, that the earth is an ever changing planet. The "swine flu" and the "West-Nile virus" are prime examples that mother nature can still deal mankind a real dose of trouble. Will these fears, illnesses, weather patterns, etc., change? Will mankind face a pandemic that would rival the "Plague"? Who knows? The one thing that you and I can know for sure is that we can be prepared for nothing when it comes down to it. Yeah, we can keep some extra supplies on hand to ease our mind, but when mother nature decides to change the course that mankind will follow; all we can do is buckle up and hold on.
